Hi Mohan,

Have you checked your connection details in the [tomcat installation]\conf\SERVER.XML file?

<Resource auth="Container" driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" maxActive="20" maxIdle="10" maxWait="-1"
name="jdbc/spagobi" password="[your username]" type="javax.sql.DataSource" url="jdbc:mysql://localhost/spagobi" username="[your password]"/>

Hope it helps,

Zsolt
Hello Forum,

I try to do the following query in SpagoBI using a BIRT report.

SELECT * FROM [view] WHERE [variable] IN (?)

When I run the query in the sql consol and replace the ? with the proper values, the result is okay.

In SpagoBI 4.1, I set the Analytical Driver Details to accept multivalue. I try to run the report, selecting the same values as I selected during the test. My report comes back empty! If I do the switch back and allow one value, the report works.

Have you experienced the same?

Thanks alot and Merry Xmas to all of you,

Zsolt
Hi Forum,

I tried to create a community in 4.1, but no success. When configuring, one need to select the Functionality, but there is no way to select. When one saves the Community, there is no way to delete it. Ever since it was created, SpagoBI 4.1 gives Null Pointer Exceptions.

It just screwed up half a day of work, What a Monday!

Any experiences with Community under SpagoBI?

Zsolt
Dear All,

Finally managed to fix SpagoBI and installed the 4.1 version. Configured, deployed all the reports, created the users, etc. All reports works okay when I log in as admin. When I log in as one of the user created, I get the following error:

Do you have any solutions?

Hello Forum,

4.0 was deployed and showed to all concerned, it was well received, except that company standar dictates IE as browser. No prob, 4.1 should run in IE. Well, deployed the war files, started up the server, got the opening screen and when I pressed the preset BIADMIN account, I got the following error:

Hello Forum,

I am working on a construction project where the site is divided into zones. Talked to some colleagues who suggested to use a top view of the site, where each zone is colored differently to ease navigation for the site supervisors.

Would it be possible to use a 2D drawing as map and provide cross navigation to reports? Basically when the user clicks on a zone, Spago should open a report which takes the zone as input and display the information.

Thanks alot for your help,

Zsolt
Hi Forum,

I keep running into the same problems since version 3.6. Created a really simple Business Model - one table, few columns - on which I would like to execute a query. All is okay till I only select the columns and having no filter at all. When I select a record on which I would like to filter, Studio shows the following screen:

Have you ever experienced something like this?

Zsolt
Hello Forum,

Since few days I am trying to deploy some reports from the Studio to the SpagoBI 4.0 server. All the time I receive an error message saying:

Could not open the editor: An unexpected exception was thrown. then followed by a Null Pointer exception.

The workaround, till today, was to manually deploy the documents, but reached the point when I need to use the Studio.

Do you have any ideas what can be the problem?

Zsolt
Seems to me that the problem was caused by the wrong report label. When I deployed the report via the browser, I created a report label which was longer than 20 characters. reduced the length and saved the report. No error till tried to run.

Deleted the report and recreated it, this time using a short report label, now it works.

Hello Forum,

Ran into an interesting problem while trying to develop some BIRT based reports in SpagoBI 4.0. Create a report, which work fine in SpagoBI. Then I copy/paste/rename this report and modified it to have different layout and filters. When I deployed the report I received no error message, so assumed it worked well. However when tried to run it, I got the following:

Dear All,

I try to build a simple report which has two parameters. The user should be able to select the parameter from a combo-box. Parameters are string type.

My query looks like this: select * from table where id IN (?)

I created an LOV with fixed values, connected it to an Analytical Driver and then to the document. When I execute the document, I receive the following message:

Hi There,

To create reports you need either Birt Studio or Jasper Reports. I use Birt, an Eclipse based tool to develop all the reports. You can register the SpagoBI server in Eclips, once that is done, you can deploy the report into the server.

Here are the basic steps: run Birt Studio, register the SpagoBI server. When you are in the SpagoBI Perspective, you can see the different options, like Business Analysis. open this branch, and right click, there is a list of options, select the report - Birt. Once done, switch to report designer perspective. Here you can define the datasource, then the query, paramteres and finally the layout. The report designer perspective also allows you to check the result before it is deployed.

To deploy it on SpagoBI, select the report, right click and select Deploy. It will ask for the type, datasource, and into which folder you would like to deploy the report. When you log in into the server, you will find the report in the folder you deployed into. Click on it and SpagoBI will run it for you.

There is a also a book written by the SpagoBI guys, buy that to support the development.

Hope it helps abit,

Zsolt

Hi There,

I think you can just do a custom installation of SpagoBI. Make sure you have Tomcat, then install MySQL or PostgresSQL, create the schemas, deploy the WAR files, change the config files then off you go. I did this for Ubuntu 12.04 and it worked. Actually I like it more than the all-in-one.

Zsolt
Hi Forum,

Recently I had to create a report which shows Project Information. With the help of SpagoBI, something was created, but I have to admit, it is not nice at all. I have found the following link on the net:

http://www.samaxes.com/2006/11/gantt-charts-with-jfreechart/

I have no any experiences changing jFreeChart, so I am looking for some help.

Thanks alot,
